Independent Pet Care Provider Opportunities
Love animals, enjoy working independently, and want to do work that truly matters? We’d love to hear from you. 🐾
Amber’s Pampered Pets connects local families with dependable, experienced pet care professionals throughout South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, and Notre Dame.
We are especially interested in connecting with providers who may choose to offer active dog care, early-morning and evening visits, overnight care, medical pet care, horse or barn services, and some availability during weekends, holidays, and other busy travel periods.
Independent providers determine their own availability, service area, services offered, and which individual opportunities they accept or decline.
The Rewarding—and Real—Side of Pet Care
Professional pet care can be joyful, meaningful, and full of heart. You may walk dogs, play with pets, comfort a shy animal, care for a senior, or become a trusted part of a pet’s routine.
But this work is not always quiet, easy, or convenient. Many opportunities involve driving between homes, safely handling dogs, arriving reliably for early-morning or 9 PM visits, working after dark, and providing care through Michiana’s heat, rain, cold, and snow. Services may also involve stairs, bending, lifting, cleaning pet messes, following detailed routines, and helping nervous pets feel safe.
Providers choose which opportunities they accept. Once accepted, pets and their families depend on that commitment.
Provider Qualifications:
Independent professionals interested in connecting with APP clients should:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Live within South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, or Notre Dame
- Have meaningful hands-on animal-care experience
- Have reliable transportation and a smartphone with internet access
- Be physically comfortable with the services they choose to offer
- Communicate warmly, clearly, and professionally
- Be dependable and use sound judgment when fulfilling accepted services
- Be honest about their skills, limitations, and comfort level
- Provide professional references and complete a background screening
- Provide all services free from impairment and maintain smoke- and vape-free visits
Because services involve frequent driving, changing schedules, early and late visits, and winter conditions, we only connect with providers who live within the communities we serve.
Providers are expected to bring foundational animal-care experience. APP provides orientation to client communication, documentation, and coordination systems.
Experience We Especially Value:
We are especially interested in professionals who can confidently offer one or more of the following:
- Dog behavior and handling: Reading canine body language, entering homes with nervous dogs, building trust, and safely handling large, strong, energetic, or fearful dogs
- Medical pet care: Administering oral or topical medications, insulin injections, and other client-directed care within the provider’s experience and comfort level
- Senior and special-needs care: Supporting pets with mobility limitations, detailed routines, or more complex care needs
- Horse and barn care: Feeding, turnout, stalls, water, and other equine or farm-animal care
- Overnight care: Staying in client homes and providing dependable evening and morning care
- Active, year-round care: Extended dog walking, early-morning visits, evening visits after dark, and driving in changing seasonal conditions
- Weekend and holiday availability: Interest in offering some availability during summer weekends, major holidays, and other busy travel periods, when many families rely on APP so they can be away with peace of mind
No one is expected to offer every service or be available for every holiday. Independent providers decide which opportunities fit their own availability, experience, and preferences.
A Kind and Inclusive Community
APP warmly welcomes professionals from all backgrounds. Kindness, inclusion, and respect matter here.
Bullying, harassment, discrimination, hate speech, and demeaning behavior have no place in APP-facilitated relationships. Clients, providers, and everyone connected with APP deserve to feel safe, respected, and valued.
